Not too long after I had Samantha, I kind of wondered what my kids would call my parents. Would it be the typical Grandma and Grandpa, or maybe Grammy and Papa. Well, never in a million years did I think my dad would be Grandpa Walrus! It all stems from a trip to Six Flags Marine World last summer. It was a special "just for Samantha" trip, we left Madison at home with Grandma (she was only 10 months old at the time). As we walked up to the walrus habitat, Samantha freaked out and wouldn't go near it. We finally realized that it was because the walrus' were right up against the viewing glass. Only after calmly talking and joking with her that they had moustaches...silly walrus!...did she relax enough to get closer to investigate. Well, now that she had a closer look something in that 2 year old mind put 2-and-2 together to blurt out "Grandpa Walrus!!!". Huh?!? Turns out she remembered that my dad has a moustache too! For the rest of the day she went on and on about "Grandpa Walrus" and when we got home she wanted to call Grandpa and tell him all about it! It turned into a little joke between the two of them which has now manifested into dad's grandparent name...much to his dismay (although, secretly I think he loves it!). Oh, and as a side note...the other day the girls and I were in Target and I let Samantha pick out some new shampoo for her and Madison. She said she wanted the walrus one. Again, huh?!? Sure enough, after asking her to point it out, there it was...a blue bottle with a walrus character on the front. Had to buy it, of course!!
