{Snapshots of a Saturday}

Thanks for the challenge Shirley!

This pic of our dog, Megan, pretty much sums up our day -- lazy! With Jeff out of town I took the opportunity to have some quality time with the girls. After a breakfast of Eggo waffles we watched Disney's Little Einsteins, one of Samantha's current favorite shows. We got a visit from Uncle Bobby who needed to borrow our truck to pick up a new tv. He stayed and played with the girls for a bit, he didn't really have a choice since they pretty much attacked him when he walked in!! Madison went down for a nap when Bobby left and Samantha and I took the opportunity to play Memory uninterrupted. She's getting pretty good, it helps that we have the Disney Princess version so she gets all into it...she's big on them right now.

Madison woke up around noon, which worked out perfect since it was about time to get some lunch. (Notice that there hasn't been any talk of showers or getting out of jammies! That's right, we lounged around all day...hee, hee!! I did brush my teeth though.) Made turkey sandwiches, and let Samantha "help"...she's getting to the age where she wants to participate in the kitchen more. So meals like this that don't include the stove are perfect! She helped spread mayo and mustard, put on the cheese slices, layered the turkey...and was just incredibly proud of herself! Add some chips and pickles...ta da, lunch is served! The rest of the afternoon was a flurry of coloring, dress-up, fort making, and pretend cooking in the Dora Kitchen. Finally got them settled down to watch Lady and the Tramp, then they both went down for afternoon naps.

It's at this point in the day when I snapped the pics of Megan (the dog). She was laying in a patch of warm sunshine (a rarity these days) looking all peaceful and cute. Poor thing got run out of the family room for most of the day with all the activity going on. Plus I wanted to try out the lens I'm borrowing from Celia. It's a 50mm f/1.8 -- and it is so incredibly cool!!!! I really really want one!

Cleaned up lunch, toys, coloring books and crayons, blankets, then sat down and watched Ghost Whisperer, which I DVR'd last night (it's better if I watch this in the daytime anyway, especially if Jeff's not home!) Didn't quite get to finish it before the girls woke up, but Samantha wanted to color some more and Madison was content to sit on my lap while I finished watching. Did more of the same then dinner, baths, one episode of Dragon Tales then bedtime. They both went down easy, whew! Oh, don't be fooled by our perfect sounding day. There was plenty of bickering, hair pulling (Madison's latest vice), crying, time-outs, blah, blah, blah. Life with a 2.5 yr. old and a 1 yr. old does not run that smoothly...ugh.

So here I am updating the 'ol blog and surfing the net, I should be scrappin' but don't have the energy. Tomorrow's gonna be busy...a 3 yr. old birthday party and my Mother-in-law's birthday. Luckily my sister is coming down from Sacramento to give me a hand. The girls will be thrilled to see Auntie Lisa again!
